Why USDT

USDT removes price volatility from the loop

USDT is the right choice when you want predictable pricing. The invoice is denominated in USD; the crypto leg settles at 1:1 USDT, so the amount you send equals the amount we receive equals the amount applied to your order. No need to watch a BTC/USD chart while the transaction confirms.

We accept USDT on two chains: Tron (TRC-20) and Ethereum (ERC-20). Pick Tron for the cheapest settlement (typically under $1 per tx), Ethereum if you're already moving ERC-20 assets and don't want to bridge. Both chains finalize in minutes.

Privacy posture is identical to BTC and ETH — both Tron and Ethereum are public ledgers. KYC exposure depends on which exchange minted the USDT you hold; some exchanges KYC at issuance, some don't. For full privacy, swap USDT to Monero and pay in XMR.

Trade-offs at a glance

  • Best for

Buyers who want zero volatility risk, founders settling out of stablecoin treasuries, exchanges-to-broker direct withdrawals.

  • Settlement time

Tron: ~3 minutes. Ethereum mainnet: ~1–5 minutes depending on gas. Both faster than BTC.

  • Privacy posture

Public ledger. USDT itself is centrally issued by Tether — your wallet's history is visible. Pick Monero for full payment privacy.

  • Fees

Tron: usually under $1. Ethereum mainnet: $2–$15 depending on congestion. No surcharge from us.

FAQ

USDT-specific questions

  • 01Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20)?

Tron for the lowest fee (sub-dollar typically). Ethereum if you're already on EVM rails or holding USDT-ERC20. Both settle in minutes. The invoice screen lets you pick.

  • 02Can Tether (the issuer) freeze the payment?

Tether can freeze any USDT address by issuer mandate (this is documented in their terms). For our flow this is a non-issue — the broker-leg transaction is settled in minutes and the funds are converted to fiat on our side immediately. Frozen-address scenarios apply to long-held balances, not to in-flight payments.

  • 03Why not USDC instead?

USDC requires additional KYC plumbing for the issuer (Circle) and adds compliance overhead we'd rather avoid in MVP. USDT covers the stablecoin use case for most buyers. Email us if you have a specific USDC requirement.

  • 04Is USDT KYC'd?

Not on our side — we never ask for ID. KYC exposure depends on where you got the USDT. Some exchanges KYC at issuance (Coinbase, Kraken); some don't (DEX swaps, P2P). Below OxaPay's velocity threshold, the loop is anonymous from our perspective.
